The Young Professionals Fellowship at Spring Valley United Methodist Church

"Friends" is comprised of young adult singles and couples, both with and without children. Participants range from mid-20s to early 40s.

Sunday School class meets at 9:45 am in Room 216, on the second floor of the east wing of the church. Subjects covered are typically faith-building, challenging and/or thought-provoking. The format is open discussion based on small group curriculum or books selected by class members. We've used studies such as "Spiritual Gifts," and "Taking Life to the X-treme-A Study of James." We also have guest speakers who address community/social issues and faith-based subjects.

Social outings are planned at least monthly and members are encouraged to bring friends, co-workers or other acquaintances. We go to concerts, attend festivals, have potluck dinners, attend sports outings, etc. May 12th - Taste of Addison, Hootie and the Blowfish Concert; June 9 - Salsa Concert and picnic in Addison's Esplanade Park featuring Vicho Vicenzio.

Missions are important to Friends. We spearhead the church-wide Christmas Toy Drive for underprivileged kids at nearby Dobie Elementary. We also participate in many Spring Valley mission projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Austin Street Mission, UMCOR, etc.
