The Quest Sunday School class is one of the newest at Spring Valley. The class meets every Sunday from 9:50 to 10:45am in Room 204. The class has about 15-20 members.
You Are Invited
From the start, you will notice that we are a class that is different from most. Our members are single, married, and all ages. We believe that inclusiveness is what Christ was all about and is about today.
We also believe that the way to change our world is one person at a time; and the one person I most need to inspect is ME. To better understand ourselves, means that we better understand those around us in the world. Self discovery and self examination are critical to spiritual development!
Lessons
Have you ever wondered if God speaks to you today and how you can be sure? How can you discern God's will for yourself in your life? What can you do to begin or en-rich your prayer life? Is your life too com-plicated and full of competing responsibilities that all demand your attention? The Quest Class will deal with everyday prob-lems and questions through the study of scriptures. It will be a Bible study series for all, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey.
Growing
And speaking of spiritual development, our class will center its main focus on growing spiritually. Too often however, we are told that such growth is about acquiring and ac-cumulating information and through this process we grow. But consideration must also be given to unlearning or letting go ... letting go of control, letting go of fear, let-ting go of the small self, or of our many hurts. There are many impediments to our growth and love of God and we must work to identify those barriers, understand them, and learn to live without them. Our lives together in Christian community are about religious pursuit (Quest!) not religious perfection.
We have fun as we learn and we have fun together in Christian fellowship. From din-ners together, picnics, to outreach and mission activities, we live out our commitment to our spiritual lives. Without such com-mitment to our shared spiritual lives, we buy no coals for the future, light no fires, leave no embers for kindling the ongoing Quest in others yet to come.

Quest Class Mission Statement
We are a community of believers seeking to strengthen our relationship with God. We search for Him in the midst of the joys and struggles that make up our everyday lives. We endeavor to grow spiritually to become the people God created us to be. We pursue this transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit, prayer, and the study of scripture. We welcome all people who wish to join us in our quest.
