I would like to invite every adult, youth, and child to prayerfully commit to TNT in 2010. TNT is a method for reading through the New Testament in one year. Here’s how it works: There are the same number of chapters in the New Testament as there are weekdays (M-F) in a year. If we read one chapter of the New Testament every weekday, we will read the New Testament in a year.
Scripture is one of the most important ways that God speaks to us. Scripture is one of the most important ways that God transforms us. Scripture is one of the most important tools that we have for sharing the grace and truth of Christ with others. If we neglect Scripture, we will have a hard time cutting through the fog of confusion and seeing the direction God wants us to go in life. If we neglect Scripture, we won’t know what to say when someone asks us about our faith.
We will provide you with a simple Bible reading calendar that you can slip inside the front cover of your Bible. The order of the chapters is intended to coincide roughly with the Christian calendar.
I will plan to use a passage from the previous week’s reading as the text for my sermon each Sunday. Sunday School Classes are welcome to use TNT as a template for their lessons each week.
I have met a lot of people over the years who were radically transformed by a relationship with Jesus Christ. Each and every one of those Christians spent a lot of time in Scripture.
I know that for some folks, the idea of Bible reading is pretty overwhelming. You might even be one who would be embarrassed to admit just how little you know about the Bible. All I can say is that every journey begins with a first step. Take the step of reading one chapter of the New Testament every weekday. I promise that you will be surprised by what you find in Scripture, and I promise you will be blessed by the experience.
Sincerely,
Mark Vowell
Sr. Pastor
